AHCA Level 2 fingerprinting for healthcare workers

For CNAs, home health aides, assisted-living and nursing-home staff, and other healthcare workers screened through Florida's Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.

How AHCA screening works

The Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) runs the Clearinghouse, the system Florida healthcare employers and the Department of Health use to see Level 2 screening results.

Your employer or licensing board gives you an ORI number and tells you what to do first. Some employers start your screening in the Clearinghouse before you're fingerprinted, so follow their steps in order. We then scan your prints and send them to FDLE, and your results go to the Clearinghouse, where your employer or board sees them.

Already screened? Ask before you're printed again

Prints in the Clearinghouse are kept on file for five years from the date they were submitted. If you were screened for a healthcare job in the last five years, ask your new employer whether your existing screening can be used before you pay for a new one.

If your retained prints are about to expire, they need to be renewed in time. If they lapse, you'll have to be fingerprinted again.

What to have ready

  • A valid government-issued photo ID
  • The ORI number and reason code from your employer or board
  • Your Social Security number. Missing details are a common reason a screening gets held up
  • Any forms or instructions your employer gave you

For employers and facilities

Onboarding several new hires? We can come to your facility and fingerprint everyone in one visit, between shifts or on an orientation day.
