What a Level 2 Live Scan is

A Florida Level 2 screening is a fingerprint-based background check that searches both state records through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and national records through the FBI.

Live Scan is how the fingerprints get there. Instead of rolling ink onto a card, we scan each finger on a glass reader and send the prints electronically. There's no card to mail and nothing to smudge, and you leave with a Transaction Control Number (TCN) for your submission.

How your appointment works

1. 1Get your ORI number and reason code from the employer, school district or board that asked for your fingerprints.
2. 2Request a time online and choose our Riverview office or a mobile visit. We confirm by email.
3. 3Bring your photo ID. We enter your details, scan your prints and check each one before sending.
4. 4Leave with your TCN so you can follow your screening.

After your appointment

Your results go to the agency your ORI points to, not to you or to us. Use your TCN to check that your screening has been processed, and keep it in case your employer or board asks for it.
